Accept and Except
'Accept' means to receive or to allow. Meanwhile 'except' means to leave out. These two are often confused.
Eventually I accepted that Santa Claus doesn't exist.
I accepted the package for you.
I like all fruits except grapes.

Who and Whom
Who is used as a subject. Meanwhile whom is used as an object of the subject.
Who hit the ball?
The ball was hit by whom?
Who left the money on the counter?
The money was left by whom?
The drug dealer was the one who got caught arrested.
Sit vs Set
Sit means 'to have a seat' while set means 'to place'.
Sit down on a chair.
Set the book down on the table.
I was seated in the booth by the hostess.
The hostess then set down the menu in front of me.
Loan, Lend and Borrow
Borrowing is when you receive or obtain something from someone with the intention to return it.
Lending is when you give something to another with the expectation to get it back.
A loan is a sum of money which is borrowed or lent.
Can I borrow your red shirt on Friday?
Sure. I can lend you my car for the evening.
You don't even have a job! What makes you think the bank will give you a loan?
